Who qualifies for the Bike to Work Scheme in Ireland and how much can I save?
All PAYE employees in Ireland (both public and private sectors) qualify if their employer participates in the scheme. You can save up to 52% on the cost of an eligible bicycle or e-bike and safety accessories through salary sacrifice before tax, PRSI, and USC. Statutory limits allow up to €1,250 for standard bicycles, €1,500 for electric bicycles, and €3,000 for cargo and e-cargo bicycles once every 4 years. Electric scooters are strictly not eligible under Revenue guidelines. Lifty Electric is an approved partner retailer for TravelHub, HubEx, and Cyclescheme.ie, and provides direct employer proforma invoicing with same-day quote turnaround.
Can I purchase an electric bike costing more than the €1,500 scheme limit?
Yes. There is no upper limit on the retail price of the e-bike you select. You receive full tax relief up to the statutory limit (€1,500 for standard e-bikes or €3,000 for cargo bikes), and you simply pay the remaining balance directly or through an employer arrangement. This allows you to choose premium CUBE e-bikes like the Kathmandu Hybrid while still enjoying the full tax savings on the first €1,500. Split payment balances can also be spread with flexible monthly financing via Humm.
Are electric scooters legal to ride on public roads in Ireland?
Under the Irish Road Traffic (Electric Scooters) Regulations / S.I. 199 of 2024, road-legal commuter e-scooters must satisfy statutory standards: maximum continuous rated motor power of 400W, maximum design speed of 20 km/h, maximum weight of 25 kg, front and rear lights, dual braking systems, and no seat. High-performance dual-motor hyper-scooters and electric unicycles exceeding these statutory limits are engineered specifically for private land, sports grounds, and closed circuits.

Can I get my e-bike or scooter repaired if I live outside Dublin?
Customers outside Dublin are welcome to use Lifty Electric Workshop (Lifty Labs), but all repair products must be brought to our workshop at 157 Capel Street, Dublin 1. We do not offer repair collection, pickup, courier intake, postal intake or mobile repair services.
Can I visit the Dublin showroom to view vehicles?
Yes. Our Capel Street showroom is open Tuesday to Saturday for customers to view machines, inspect build quality, and collect orders.
