Electric Bikes Ireland
Every e-bike on this page is a new bike with the manufacturer's warranty. We don't sell second-hand or ex-rental e-bikes. Whether you collect or have it delivered, you're buying from a Dublin shop with its own workshop, so servicing, parts and warranty help stay in one place after you buy.
Why buy your electric bike from Lifty
- New bikes only: full manufacturer warranty, with no unknown battery history.
- Our own Dublin workshop: Lifty Labs e-bike repairs and servicing, including battery and motor diagnostics, on Capel Street (booking required).
- Bike to Work quotes: employer-ready quotes through Cyclescheme.ie, HubEx and TravelHub, or a direct employer invoice. See the Bike to Work guide.
- A shop you can visit: our Capel Street showroom is near the Jervis Luas stop, rated 4.9 out of 5 from 700+ Google reviews.
- Not sure which to choose? Read the best electric bikes in Ireland buying guide or the e-bike size guide.
Outside Dublin, for example in Cork, Galway, Limerick or Waterford? Most e-bikes can be delivered across Ireland where checkout offers a shipping option for your address. UTO e-bikes and assembled bikes are Dublin showroom collection only. Standard e-bike lead times are typically 2–3 weeks, including inspection before dispatch. See delivery and collection.
Premium e-bike brands (available to order): Gazelle city and trekking e-bikes, Scott eRIDE road, gravel and e-MTB, and Merida eONE-SIXTY e-MTB. Confirm the size and lead time before you order.
Prefer a bike without a motor? We also sell new mountain bikes, hybrid and city bikes, gravel bikes, road bikes, kids bikes and the full Giant range, plus helmets, locks and lights.

Dublin Showroom Advice & Delivery Options
Visit our Dublin city centre showroom at 157 Capel Street, Dublin 1 (Tuesday–Friday 11:30–18:00, Saturday 11:30–17:00, closed Sunday and Monday) to view models and compare product information. Workshop repairs and diagnostics are by booking only. In-person sizing consultations and test rides are not offered. Contact the team to confirm the exact model and size are available to view before travelling. For collection, delivery and assembly options, read our current shipping information and confirm the charges for your chosen bike and destination in your quotation or at checkout.
Planning running costs? Use our free e-bike charging cost calculator with your battery capacity and electricity tariff. It estimates full or partial charging costs and shows the assumptions.
Planning a return commute? Use our electric bike range and battery-capacity calculator to compare your distance, assumed energy use and a reserve. The formulas and worked example are shown; the result is an estimate rather than a road-tested range promise.
Compare your shortlist before ordering
Two similarly priced e-bikes can suit very different journeys. Compare battery watt-hours, assistance system, gearing, total weight, frame geometry and practical equipment. Allow a range reserve for hills, wind, cold weather and your rider or cargo load; a manufacturer's maximum range is not a route guarantee.
- Budget: browse e-bikes under €1,500 and include safety equipment, delivery and preparation in the total.
- Storage: check weight and folded dimensions before choosing a folder.
- Fit: use the manufacturer-based size guide to compare reach, step-over height and rider-height guidance.
- Scheme purchase: confirm the exact supplied model's eligibility and your employer's process in the Bike to Work guide.
- After-sales care: check parts, warranty arrangements and Dublin workshop support for the exact version.
Electric bike buying questions
Are electric bikes legal in Ireland?
Yes. In Ireland a pedal-assisted e-bike (pedelec) is treated like an ordinary bicycle if its motor is rated at no more than 250W continuous, it only assists while you pedal, and the assistance cuts out at 25 km/h. You don't need a licence, motor tax or insurance, and you can use cycle lanes. E-bikes with a throttle that works without pedalling, or that assist above 25 km/h, fall outside this category and are treated as motor vehicles. Read the Department of Transport e-bike guidance.
What should I avoid when buying an electric bike?
Avoid bikes sold for road use that aren't compliant pedelecs (more than 250W, a throttle that works without pedalling, or assistance above 25 km/h), bikes without a CE mark and EN 15194 certification, and batteries or chargers from unknown sources. Also check that parts and servicing are available in Ireland for that brand, and that the frame size suits your height before you buy.
Do you sell second-hand electric bikes?
No. Every electric bike we sell is new, with the manufacturer's warranty. Servicing and repairs are available at our Lifty Labs workshop at 157 Capel Street, Dublin 1, by booking.
Does “Stock/Ready to order” mean the bike is in the Dublin showroom?
The Stock/Ready to order range shows models that can be ordered online. It can include pre-orders, which keep their separate badge. It does not confirm that every colour or frame size is physically available to view. Check the exact variant and ask the team before travelling.
Which electric bike should I buy for commuting, storage or carrying a load?
Start with your daily distance, hills, storage space and carrying needs. Compare city and commuter bikes for everyday journeys, folding bikes for compact storage, or cargo bikes for a suitable load-carrying design. Check each model's weight, dimensions and rated load; a folding frame does not automatically make a bike easy to lift.
What should I send my employer for a Bike to Work purchase?
Choose the exact model, size and colour, then request a quotation through our Bike to Work guide. Confirm your employer's process before paying: Revenue's scheme requires the employer to buy the bicycle; reimbursing an employee's own purchase does not qualify. The exemption limits include eligible safety equipment: €1,500 for qualifying e-bikes and €3,000 for qualifying cargo bikes. See Revenue's current rules.
Can every electric bike be delivered, and how long will it take?
Collection, delivery and preparation depend on the model and destination. UTO e-bikes are Dublin collection only under our current policy. Other models may have availability or preparation lead times. Read the shipping policy and confirm the charge, expected timing and assembly option for your exact bike in the quotation or at checkout.
How do I check whether a particular e-bike is suitable for Irish public roads?
Check the supplied version, not just the model name or a selectable speed setting. The Department of Transport describes the pedal-assisted e-bike category as up to 250W continuous rated power, with assistance stopping when pedalling stops and cutting off before 25km/h. Read the official technical and usage requirements and ask us about the exact configuration before ordering.
What should I check about servicing before I buy?
Confirm warranty arrangements, compatible parts and workshop support for the specific model and electrical system. Our Dublin e-bike repair information explains the workshop route. Contact the team with the model and issue before bringing in a bike; parts, diagnostic work and repair scope depend on the job.
