LIFTY ELECTRIC / TECHNICAL GUIDE
EUC Selection & Safety
Wheel Size & Terrain Selection
16-inch wheels are the most agile choice for dense city riding and quick direction changes. 18-inch wheels add stability at speed and smooth out rough tarmac. 20-inch and larger wheels deliver the most confident high-speed and off-road handling, at the cost of weight and maneuverability.
- City commuting and short hops — start at 16".
- Mixed urban and faster A-road riding — 18".
- High-speed, long-range or off-road use — 20"+.
Suspension Dynamics & Progressive Springs
Suspension EUCs use coil-spring or air-damped systems to keep the tyre in contact with the ground. Progressive spring rates stiffen under load, so small bumps stay comfortable while big impacts are still controlled. Heavier riders or rough-terrain riders should prioritize suspension; rigid wheels reward smooth, learned technique with lower weight and more range per Wh.
Essential Protective Equipment
EUCs balance dynamically and demand full protective equipment at every stage of learning:
- Full-face helmet with chin protection — non-negotiable at EUC speeds.
- Wrist guards, knee pads and elbow pads for the learning phase.
- Sturdy footwear with ankle support.
- Hi-visibility or dark professional riding gear for road presence.
Irish Legal & Safety Advisory
Electric unicycles are not currently permitted for use on public roads or footpaths in Ireland. They are intended for private land with the landowner's permission. Always check current local rules before riding, and do not assume public-road use is permitted. Lifty sells EUCs for private-property and off-road use; every rider is responsible for compliance with local regulations.
Published speed and range figures depend on test conditions and are not guarantees. Hills, wind, temperature, rider weight and tyre pressure change real-world performance. Keep a battery reserve and never ride near system limits.
