Practical first checks for the issues riders ask about most. Keep the vehicle switched off and unplugged for visual checks.
Stop riding on a flat tyre. Read the size and construction on the tyre sidewall and note whether the affected wheel is front or rear. Photograph the valve and damaged area. A tyre, tube, valve or rim issue may be involved; the right replacement depends on the wheel and model.
Read the first-check guide →Do not ride with unreliable brakes. With the vehicle off, look for visible damage, contamination or a lever that does not return freely. Note which brake is affected and photograph the caliper and existing pads. Have the fault assessed before ordering pads, levers, cables or a caliper.
Read the first-check guide →Record the charger indicator and any display or app message. Compare the charger label with the vehicle manual; voltage, polarity and connector must all match. If there is heat, swelling, damage or suspected water ingress, stop using and charging it. A battery is not automatically the cause. Arrange diagnostics before buying electrical parts.
Read the first-check guide →Check the exact starting procedure in your model manual and whether an app lock or displayed warning is active. While switched off, see whether the throttle returns freely. Do not bypass brake cut-offs or test a faulty throttle by riding. Persistent faults need the control, wiring and related systems assessed.
Read the first-check guide →Photograph the code exactly, including letters and leading zeros. Note the model, display version and whether the issue followed rain, impact or a recent repair. Inspect only accessible exterior areas with power off. Do not unplug live connectors. A display, loom or controller may require professional testing.
Read the first-check guide →Stop riding if the steering, folding joint, fork or frame feels loose or damaged. Photograph the affected area without dismantling it. A technician should assess structural and steering faults. Cosmetic mudguard parts still need the exact model, mounting pattern and any integrated light wiring checked.
Read the first-check guide →Choose the exact model above to see whether a code reference applies. These entries do not cover every model or firmware version.
NIU identifies three short beeps as code 03 in its throttle troubleshooting guidance. Check the model’s starting conditions and have persistent warnings assessed; a code alone does not confirm that a new throttle is required.

These measures remain proposed until formally enacted. Current requirements remain in force. Government requirements and commencement dates may change; always check current official Irish guidance before riding.

Orders delivered to Great Britain may be subject to UK import VAT, customs duty and courier clearance charges. UK import VAT is generally 20%. Depending on origin, classification and customs treatment, additional duty may apply. As a general guide, allow approximately 20%–30% in possible import charges, although the final amount may be lower or higher.
These charges are assessed by UK customs or the carrier and are the buyer’s responsibility. Lifty Electric does not control or guarantee the final amount. Northern Ireland uses different rules and is excluded when a Northern Ireland address is known.
