Buying an E-Bike or Electric Scooter in Europe: The Pre-Order Checklist

Buying across Europe gives you more models to compare. It also makes the details of the order more important: the precise product version, delivery address and support arrangements should be clear before you pay. This checklist helps you prepare a useful enquiry to Lifty Electric in Dublin.

Start with the exact model, not just the brand

Record the full product name, model year and selected variant. Compare the listed weight, dimensions and intended use with your own needs. For an e-bike, check the frame size and how you will store it. For a scooter, consider carrying weight and folded dimensions. Do not assume that two products with similar names have identical equipment.

Save the product page and ask for clarification if the specification, image and selected option disagree. A short list of the features that matter to you is more useful than choosing by headline speed or advertised range alone.

Separate Europe from the European Union

Europe includes destinations inside and outside the EU. Ask for a quote for your country and postcode rather than applying another country's delivery information to your order. Confirm the dispatch origin, shipping charge and any taxes or carrier charges relevant to the shipment.

The European Commission explains how VAT works for cross-border consumer purchases in its VAT e-commerce guidance. Use the checkout and an order-specific confirmation for the actual amount payable; this checklist does not calculate your tax.

Confirm that this vehicle can travel on this route

Provide the product link and delivery address to Lifty. Ask whether the exact vehicle and battery configuration can be delivered, and whether it is a shipped order or a showroom-collection item. Confirm availability and expected dispatch timing separately from the estimated carrier journey. A country appearing in a selector does not establish that every product can ship there.

Check the documentation you need at home

Before using a vehicle on public roads, check your country's transport authority guidance for that type of vehicle. Ask for the manufacturer documentation and model identification needed for your assessment. The ability to buy a product from an Irish retailer does not establish permission to ride it in another country.

Understand aftercare before checkout

Ask who handles a fault, which support is remote, whether local labour is included and how any necessary return would be arranged. Check the applicable warranty and returns terms for your chosen product. Accessories, replacement parts and complete vehicles can have different practical support requirements.

Send one complete buying enquiry

Include your country, postcode, product link, selected variant, intended use and questions about delivery and aftercare. Ask for any unresolved points to be confirmed before payment. Contact Lifty for a model and destination check.
